Thermocouple options: Repair, Recalibrate, Replace
Introducing our new 3R program
Noble metal pricing continues to climb exponentially, causing thermocouples to become more and more expensive. The 3R program has been developed to ensure that you our customers are getting the longest life possible out of each thermocouple, potentially saving you thousands of dollars per year!
What is 3R?
Repair – Send us your broken thermocouples and we will repair them.
Recalibrate – After repair, we recalibrate the thermocouples to ASTM 220-13 standards. A calibration sticker will be applied to the thermocouple and a certificate provided.
Recycle – If the thermocouple is out of calibration, we will recycle the thermocouple and discount the purchase of a new thermocouple the amount of the scrap metal. Alternatively, we will send the thermocouple back if you choose to continue using it.
2021 Pricing is Shown Below. We hope you will find this to be an excellent cost savings compared to purchasing new thermocouples.

Why noble metal thermocouples cost so much
Types S, R and B use platinum and rhodium for stability and corrosion resistance at high temperatures, so their price follows noble metal markets. Base metal Type K thermocouples are more affordable and suit less demanding applications. Protection tubes, sheaths and thermowells shield the sensor from oxidation, wear and chemical attack, which extends its service life.
How 3R lowers your cost of ownership
Repairing a hot junction, head or sheath costs a fraction of a new noble metal thermocouple. Recalibration to ASTM 220-13 comes with a calibration sticker and certificate for your quality records. When a thermocouple can no longer hold calibration, its scrap metal value is credited toward a new one, so even end-of-life sensors return value.
